Cup Game 1 - FCB v Marshall Security A few huge cup shocks were dealt out – the biggest being our demise brought on by Marshall Security, and Tsepo Ntsoane & Rufus Oakes in particular, going down 3-0 in a game we could have and should have won 7-6 in the tie breaker… Anyway that history and the end of Monday night football for us… Luckily we get to avenge this immediately when we travel to Berea Park, the old home of the “Purple people eater – Glenwood FC”, tonight to take on the same outfit, hopefully with our A team, can’t wait! All Monday’s news below in the chairman’s report, pretty much the night of the underdog – you can tell the Glenwood boys for the rest by the quality of report! Report: In a quick paced match, Marshall Security took the lead after about 15 minutes when their midfielder was given too much time on the ball, he did well to round the last line of defence and volley the ball home...1-0. Thereafter both teams missed chances, with clear cut opportunities, with only really the respective goalkeepers to beat. Marshall went 2 up from a defensive error which their striker duly accepted and curled the ball beyond the FCB keeper on the stroke of half time. Second half saw both teams come out on attack, and again FCB squandered quite a few one on one situations, Marshall's goalkeeper doing well to keep a clean sheet. The game was settled when Marshall midfielder beat the offside trap and nearly rounded the keeper, the ball then fell kindly to one of the strikers, who were queuing up and he made no mistake in finding the goal. Final score 3-0 to Marshall Security - and good luck to Keith & his team for the rest of the competition! |
